| SECOND PODIUM
FOR TURVEY AT SILVERSTONE |
|
Oliver Turvey produced another flawless drive in the
Formula Renault 3.5 pitstop race at Silverstone today to claim his second
podium of the weekend.
The RSF driver finished third in a repeat of
yesterday's reverse grid race result to move up to fourth in the points
table.
Turvey, who started from fourth on the grid, timed his pitstop to
perfection, stopping later than all the front runners on lap 13 to re-emerge in
sixth behind James Walker and ahead of Fairuz Fauzy.
The championship
rivals - who had circulated in the same order in the early stages of the race -
inherited a place apiece the following lap when Daniil Move and Sten Pentus
pitted.
By lap 17, courtesy of Adrian Zaugg's mandatory stop, the trio
were running behind race leader and eventual winner Charles Pic.
But,
while Walker was unable to make any impact on the gap that Pic had opened up at
the front, Turvey gradually reeled in his fellow Brit to finish just 0.286s
adrift of the P1 Motorsport car.
"I was closing in on him quite quickly
at the end," said Turvey. "But unfortunately he was really quick through
Becketts and the rest of the first sector. So while I could close up in sectors
two and three there was nowhere I could overtake without a big risk.
"So
it made sense to settle for third. But it was another podium and more valuable
points, which was good."
