Oliver Turvey put the final touches to the development of the McLaren GT3 car at a unique all-night test in Northern Spain yesterday, as he and the team continued preparations for the car’s highly anticipated debut in the Spa 24-Hours.
Turvey has been instrumental in developing the on-track GT3 version of McLaren’s road car, from working on fundamental conceptual designs early in its life to fine-tuning the set-up and aerodynamics as the programme has developed.
In the biggest test to date, the team conducted a full overnight run at the Navarra circuit and Turvey said: “It was a very productive test and it gave the whole team the chance to gather some valuable data ahead of the Spa 24 Hour race.
“I’ve been involved in the development of the Mclaren GT3 since the beginning and it has been fantastic to see the car evolving at each test. We had a number of upgrades ahead of this test and I got my first experience of racing at night, which I really enjoyed. Now I can’t wait to get to Spa for the race weekend!”
